Rhododendrons awakening in the Spring.  Their old leaves rattle in the wind like old achy bones but in the warming sun the buds open as a dress rehearsal to the new Spring.
     Again this is, in a sense, "touch" painting, to feel the thick leathery leaves and the challenge of making a compositional sound painting.  Rhododendrons, like many flowers growing in a given location, have a tendency to grow the same height and face the same direction and with that a tendency to be uninteresting.  I'd like to think that these  dancing ballerinas of pretty pinks and golds are anything but uninteresting.
